Marcella Hazan's Tomato Sauce

Marcella Hazan’s pasta dubbed “the world’s best pasta sauce” and with only four ingredients plus salt.

Ingredients
250 g Spaghetti
70 g butter
1 onion, peel and cut in half
800 g can of peeled Italian tomatoes
Pinch of salt
Directions
Pour the tomatoes into a saucepan and fill the emptied can with warm water and add that too. Add the butter and onion and a big pinch of salt.
Place over medium heat and bring to a simmer. You can break up the tomatoes with a wooden spoon.
After the sauce has been cooking for 30 minutes cook the spaghetti according to the directions on the packet and once al dente add directly into saucepan on a low heat. Continuing to cook for a few more minutes before serving. Using pasta water if required to ‘loosen’ the sauce up.
